I am honored and grateful to the
following public officials, politicians, residents, friends and
neighbors on the local, state and national level who are supporting my
campaign for State Representative for the 8th Middlesex District:
Governor Deval Patrick
Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Congressman Jim McGovern Member of the United States
House of Representatives from Massachusetts Third Congressional
District
Sen. Karen Spilka
Massachusetts State Senator for the 2nd Middlesex and Norfolk District
(including Hopkinton, Holliston and Medway)
Barbara
Gardner
Former State Representative for the 8th Middlesex District
Glen Trindade
Chair, Medway Board of Selectmen
George Thompson
Chair, Westborough Board of Selectmen
"As
a member of the Holliston Planning Board, Carolyn took the lead on
zoning bylaw changes that should have significant positive
environmental impact.
"The long-needed revisions to
Holliston's open space bylaw will result in increased acres of
protected open space, preserving Holliston’s natural assets,
including our water resources, at no cost to Holliston taxpayers. The
recently passed stormwater bylaw tightens the protection to our water
resources afforded by state law. Carolyn not only cares about the
environment but she does something about it. She does her research,
seeks input and works hard. Her thoroughness, her work ethic, and her
passion for the environment and public service will be an asset to her
district and to the state of Massachusetts."
Ann Marie Pilch Chair, Holliston Conservation
Commission
I have been
waiting for a long time to endorse a candidate
for State Representative that I believe is the right combination of
intelligence, independence, forthrightness and good judgment.I am delighted to support
Carolyn Dykema as
our next State Representative to the Massachusetts Legislature.
I
have known Carolyn for many years as a fellow member of my
church and as an active, engaged, and committed citizen in my hometown
of
Holliston.She and
I have interacted on
issues as diverse as sewer/septic management and affordable housing as
well as
volunteer activities.
In
every single instance, I’ve been struck with her
willingness to get into the trenches to see that an article passes at
Town
Meeting, to build consensus on some thorny issue, and to bring people
together
so they feel listened to and enabled.
Those
are the skills that are necessary to build
relationships across the 200 member disparate Massachusetts
Legislature.Each
member represents a district that is
uniquely different than one’s own.It
takes sensitivity, respect for the other members, and give and take to
win on
issues that matter to our region.
The message
that needs to be sent is not about partisanship,
the super majority, how few Republicans serve or even positions on
ballot
questions.It’s
about the person – their
judgment, their life experience, their honesty, their willingness to
lay it on
the line, their desire to actively and passionately fight in the
trenches with
superior judgment and a caring attitude for you and your towns.
Based
on that criterion, Carolyn Dykema can have a huge
impact on her own party and the loyal opposition, our communities and
our
state.I am
profoundly proud to support
someone of her caliber and ask you to vote for her on November 4.
Barbara
Gardner Holliston
Former state representative, 8th Middlesex district
"I
am very pleased to support Carolyn Dykema as she seeks to become our
next State Representative. Carolyn is a woman of integrity, who will
bring all her intelligence, enthusiasm, and full-time efforts to making
life better in our community. Her particular focus on education will
ensure that our children receive the best opportunities, as they take
their roles as responsible and engaged citizens, as Carolyn
exemplifies."
Erica Plunkett Vice Chair, Holliston School Committee
"I first met Carolyn
nearly 3 years ago at a regional planning meeting and since then we
have shared numerous conversations on planning issues affecting our
towns and our region.
Carolyn's private sector
experience and her years of volunteer public service in Holliston, where
she has served as Chairwoman of the Holliston Planning
Board, arm Carolyn with a direct understanding of the
interconnections between local, state, and federal
economic and policy decisions. Carolyn's
collaborative nature, respect for others, and
willingness to seek real solutions have earned her the
attention and respect of leaders at all levels in
Massachusetts.
Together, her experience, abilities, and cultivated network will make
Carolyn Dykema a strong and effective advocate for Hopkinton and the
other towns of the 8th Middlesex District.
Please cast your vote next Tuesday for Carolyn Dykema for our next State
Representative."
Joe Markey Vice Chair, Hopkinton Planning Board
"Carolyn
is one of the brightest, most thorough and most eager minds we could
have working for us. She is passionate about making a difference and
working hard at the State level to help small communities achieve their
goals."
Katie Connors Holliston
"I
fully endorse Carolyn Dykema for State Representative because our
district needs someone to fully look after our interests on Beacon
Hill. Carolyn is tireless in making sure that she gets answers to the
most difficult questions which helped immensely during her tenure on
the Holliston planning board. As a member of the the Holliston Finance
Committee I have also witnessed her ability to work well with our
departments for the overall good of the town.
"The planning board constantly deals
with a myriad of complex issues that can have a dramatic effect on not
only the town itself, but individual citizens as well. She took that
very seriously and never lost sight of why she was there. She also took
on a very difficult task as a member of Sewer Committee. While not the
most glamorous position, she pressed on when others simply gave up.
Gave a tremendous amount of time and effort on behalf of the town.
"These were far from easy tasks but
when she sees a problem she finds out everything she can about it and
then goes about formulating a solution. This kind of common sense
approach is exactly what is needed in someone who represents our
interests.
"She has proven her worth to the town
of Holliston time and again. Now we need to send her to the State
House, where she can become an effective force for our district."
Mark J. Schultz Holliston Finance Committee
"Carolyn
Dykema is an outstanding candidate for State Representative. She is
intelligent, energetic and a good listener. Carolyn demonstrates an
excellent work ethic in every thing she does. She will bring her
tremendous strength and fair-mindedness to anything she undertakes. I
am honored to support her and to be her friend."
Sylvia Stickney Holliston Food Pantry
"I
am excited to be able to endorse Carolyn Dykema for state
representative. She has proved to be hard working, thoughtful,
progressive and forward thinking. Working through difficult issues and
projects she does not lose her focus or positive attitude. I am sure
Carolyn will be an effective and responsive representative for our
district. Please join me in supporting her."
